Growing up in Kemper and Lauderdale counties during the height of the Jim Crow era, the physical toll of farming was heavy. We worked the soil with mules and cut pulpwood just to survive. But while the physical labor was grueling, the spiritual foundation my family provided was unshakeable.
My parents and great-grandparents didn't just teach me how to survive the fields; they taught me how to pray.
Throughout my entire career, from my days in the Army Signal Corps to commanding the control towers of the FAA, the promise of John 3:16 remained my absolute anchor. I quickly learned that true progress through struggle requires more than just a sharp mind; it requires a praying heart. When you trust that God can make a way out of no way, you stop seeing obstacles as dead ends, and start seeing them as divine assignments. Your faith is the ultimate armor against any systemic barrier.
